After three years of organizing and negotiation, New School
Part-Time Faculty have their first contract
On
Thursday, March 16th, our New School part-time faculty union contract was signed
by members of the faculty bargaining committee, representatives of UAW Region
9A, and New School administration.
This important achievement was made
possible by the collective strength of a united faculty and the courageous
efforts of literally hundreds of members. As the contract itself is implemented
we will continue our efforts for greater part-time faculty rights and respect,
and look to you to make ACT-UAW a union that can continue to build upon our
recent success. We have already begun to train grievance handlers, and will soon
be electing our faculty representatives to our local union's Joint Council,
which will have representatives of both New School and NYU members.
We
are proud of the many accomplishments we have made, and encourage you to take an
active role in our union.
